Ways to pay Bilt Rewards (rent, mortgage and HOA via BillPay)

WayAcceptedFeeNotes
Card on the biller's own siteYes3%, minimum $3.00Any non-Bilt domestic credit card pays a 3% processing fee ($3 minimum) for rent through BillPay, and earns 1 Bilt Point per $2. International cards pay 4%. For UWM-serviced mortgages paid in Bilt, credit cards also incur 3%, and only a Mastercard credit card is listed. For other mortgage servicers, BillPay works by linking your servicer to a Bilt account, or Bilt mails a check (Bilt Card holders only). Card fees per servicer are not listed; expect 3% for credit cards.
Card on the biller's own siteYesNo fee publishedBilt Mastercard (Bilt Card 2.0): no transaction fee on rent or mortgage, and up to 1.25X points on housing. Bilt's CEO says cardholders are never charged a fee to earn housing rewards. Under Bilt's card 2.0 setup, the housing payment is debited from your linked bank account rather than drawn on a credit line, so it works like an ACH payment with card rewards. Networks: mastercard.
Debit cardYes$9.95Visa or Mastercard debit costs a flat $9.95 (rent and UWM mortgage). Discover or Amex debit is 3% (minimum $3). Networks: visa, mastercard.
Bank account (ACH)Yes$1.95Rent through a Plaid-linked bank account costs a $1.95 processing fee. UWM mortgage by ACH has no additional fee and earns 100 points.

What it is worth for your rent payment

Rewards minus fees, twelve payments a year. A negative number means a card costs you money.

When a card is worth it

With no card fee published, a card that earns 2% turns a $1,800 rent payment into about $432 a year. Pay the card in full each month, and confirm the fee at checkout.

Watch out for

Paying with a non-Bilt credit card costs 3% (minimum $3) and earns only 1 point per $2. The Bilt Card route avoids the fee but is funded by ACH from your bank, not your credit line.
